Jesus Martinez clarifies recent Orlando Tuzos reports and names President
January 21, 2009 at 3:08 pm | Posted in Orlando Tuzos, Soccer in Central Florida | 2 CommentsAccording to mediotiempo.com, Pachuca’s President Jesús Martínez has clarified the situation regarding the Orlando Tuzos and what league the team will play in. As I suspected, previous media reports linking the team with MLS were in error and the Orlando Tuzos will play in USL1. Martínez declared that USL1 will allow greater freedom of operation particularly in regards to ownership of the players.
Martínez has also named Luis Baraldi, current Vice-president of Pachuca CF as the first President of Orlando Tuzos.
Orlando Tuzos USA to play in MLS?
January 13, 2009 at 6:18 pm | Posted in Orlando Tuzos, Soccer in Central Florida | Leave a commentThere’s a conflicting report from a Spanish language online financial publication El Financiero that the new franchise that Pachuca is set to launch in Orlando will actually play in MLS. The quote atributed to Pachuca President Jesus Martinez names MLS as the league the new club intends to play in. I’m a bit skeptical as the earlier report mentions USL Div 1, but perhaps the ultimate target is to play in MLS.
